Prevent Unwanted Pets, Inc.
"PUP" is a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization in Northern Colorado dedicated to promoting responsible care of companion animals.

We provide spay and neuter education information and help those in need with financial assistance for their pet's spay/neuter surgery. To qualify for assistance, the surgery must be performed by a Larimer County, Colo., veterinarian.

PUP is a uniquely effective humane organization because we work to prevent the tragic pet overpopulation problem and its consequences.

Since our incorporation in 1976, thousands of animals have been spayed or neutered with our help.

Help prevent pet overpopulation

Pet overpopulation is a catastrophic problem nationwide. Every year, more than 5 million cats and dogs must be killed because there are not enough homes for them. Every kitten and puppy born contributes to the problem. In our area alone, thousands of companion animals die every year because they are unwanted.

Across the United States, it costs millions of dollars to collect, shelter and destroy animals that are stray or abandoned every year. It costs all of us money. It costs the animals their lives.

Irresponsible people allow this suffering and waste to continue.

Responsible people like YOU are the key to the solution.

Dear PUP,

"I'm raising my baby granddaughter after her father died.  I have unexpected expenses now and I really needed my female dog spayed.  Thank you for your help."

Spay/neuter Myth vs. Fact

Myth: Spay/neuter surgery will make my pet fat and lazy.

Fact: Spay/neuter surgery will make your pet less agitated and more content to stay home. Animals that eat too much and are not regularly exercised get fat regardless of their reproductive status.
